Orientis tells you how many hours of direct sun each surface of a building gets, calculated rather than estimated. It opens DAE, FBX, OBJ and glTF models from SketchUp, AutoCAD and Revit; once the location and north are set, the sun path and shadows appear in the 3D scene.
Calculations run in a separate Python engine using pvlib and are tested against published reference values; sunrise, solar noon and sunset stay within half a minute of the US Naval Observatory figures. Project files never leave the user’s computer.
